4th-8th grade teachers will engage in a few activities you can use with your whole class using each students' library book to increase comprehension and reading. PLEASE BRING A COPY OF A BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING OR TEACHING WITH YOU TO THIS SESSION.
This is session #2 of 2 for our Building Thinking Classrooms book study. We will continue using Peter Liljedahl’s book to guide us in engaging our students with both non-curricular tasks and those from your Into Math lessons. Strategies and tools to get students active, out of their seats, and engaging in discussions about math.
Take a deeper dive into the Twig Science Curriculum (highlights, timesavers, etc) while learning different ways to integrate Twig Science into your day and a time to ask your questions while exploring the Twig Science curriculum. This is the same session that was offered in August.
This session is for beginners interested in learning about 3D modeling and 3D printing in the classroom. It's not as scary as you might think! Participants will learn 3D modeling basics using TinkerCAD, and see the process from 3D model to 3D-printed items.
If you have never been trained on how to teach Expository/Informative writing using SUTW, or if it has been awhile and you need a refresher, this workshop is for you. We will cover the very basics of Expository/Informative Writing (I Chart, Colors, Topic Sentences, Transitions, Big Ideas, Elaborating, and Conclusions.) We will discuss how to integrate this process with any curricular area; especially Science and Social Studies.
